I have this friend Darin, who I knew at Mizzou. He’s living in Japan right now teaching (I think). For about two months, he’s been compiling a list of The Fifty Greatest Albums of All Time, and now it’s ready! I encourage you to take a look, he’s quite learned in the music scene.
This made me want to compile my own list, so…..more to come.

It is rare in a world that consumes music that is insincere and designed by producers who actually discourage individual style and innovativeness. So as a result we have rap and hip hop poisoning the mind from artists with tiny brains and criminal behavior and society buys it, bathes in it, and values it! My God I must already be living in hell!
Nick Drake came from a time when people were more decent and less easily deceived by trash that was merely invented for sale to the ignorant.
Nick Drake was that special talent that came to the world with a gentle intelligent voice writing songs that touch the sou.l Touching me with his sensitivity and vulnerable nature.Prolific guitar work that you rarely hear today, a breathy voice that pulls you down to the English countryside on an Autumn morning, and music that only angels could write if they were here among us though sad at times,he is a testament to the rule that just because one is talented, dedicated, and sensitive, it does not mean this world will reward them. If I could only bring you back so you could see, Nick, that so many people do love you and your work. Maybe you wouldn’t have died such an untimely death when you were so young. I keep waiting for this world to wake up from its hatred but I keep being disappointed as I’m sure Nick Drake was.
“Nick Drake was that special talent that came to the world with a gentle intelligent voice writing songs that touch the soul.”
I couldn’t agree more. I think Sam Beam is up there, too.

-hell must be a place for people with the ‘old guard’. i think my grandfather said the same thing about rubber soul.
Where’s that quote from?
